Measuring your attic access door is easy

These are the measurements you need to collect to determine the attic cover size needed.

Length x Width x Height (Height of stair case)

How to Install and Measure Attic Access Cover

Step 1 - Measure the attic entrance length & width

Measure the attic entrance from the attic or standing on the attic stairs to determine the attic cover size needed. The measurements for the Attic Seal™ Is taken from inside the rough frame of the attic entrance.

Length x Width x Height ( Height of stair case )

Important Note! : If measuring the attic staircase opening from inside the attic be sure to only stand on designated walk boards and/or wood joist only. You should never place any weight on the drywall that separates the house from the attic ( ceiling drywall ). The Drywall will crack, break or cave in if weight is applied.

Step 2 - Measure the height of your attic door stairs

With the attic stairs folded up in the closed position measure the height of the attic stairs to determine the attic cover with the correct height. Place your tape measure an inch down into the rough opening and measure to the top of your attic stairs this will give you the correct height of your attic stairs. The Attic Seal attic cover installs an inch down into the rough opening of the attic entrance.

Example 1: If your measurements came out to be:

Length x Width x Height 56" x 25" x 12"

You would need to purchase the AS-4 or 56" x 25" x 15"

Example2: If your measurements came out to be:

Length x Width x Height 55" x 22" x 6"

You would need to purchase the AS-3 or 56" x 25" x 15"

*This Attic Seal is flexible and can expand within 1 to 1.5 inches from listed length x width.
